Who We Need:

We are seeking a highly motivated embedded systems engineer to provide architectural, integration, and development services across our multi-generational hardware and software platforms.  In this role your primary responsibilities will include (1) consulting on the design of integrated hardware and embedded device systems; (2) integration of device drivers; and (3) utilizing C/C++ and other technologies to implement business and operational features.  You will be part of a small but globally dispersed team. The ideal candidate is cool, calm and collected, thrives under pressure and is dedicated to helping us deliver business value through technological innovation and delivery of services. 

 

Our customers rely on our TapWise solutions to provide hospitality to their guests and members at all times.  As a member of the engineering team, you may be required to support our customers during off-hours or weekends. 

 

What You Would Do:

  • Develop and integrate sensors, micro-controllers, and other integrated device systems in support of Sestra’s multi-generational products 
  • Facilitate organizational understanding and provide consultation on sensors and programmable chip sets
  • Integrate and test device drivers
  • Consult with onboard algorithms and functions to extract and manipulate data
  • Evaluate, prototype, and implement third-party parts and services as applicable to business and technical objectives
  • Provide technology direction and recommendations to the product roadmap
  •  Work autonomously and within a team of internal and external contractors and partners for on-time delivery of quality code, utilizing agile methodologies
  • Contribute to project documentation and best practices process and improvement 

Qualities We Look For:

  • Minimally, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of direct experience in embedded systems development or demonstrable equivalent 
  • Ability to read and review hardware schematics 
  • Strong C/C++ development knowledge 
  • Experience with FreeRTOS and multi-threaded architecture including timing analysis and profiling
  • Familiarity with 
    • ARM Cortex-M4 processors
    • Texas Instruments micro-controllers e.g., Tiva, C2000
    • Linux OS and Device Drivers
    • Interprocess communications
    • CAN bus architecture 
  • Experience with analog-to-digital converters 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware board issues
